Based in Nice, on the French Riviera, Greg Lecoeur is an ocean and wildlife photographer with sixteen years of experience dedicated to revealing the beauty and fragility of the marine world.

I realized that photographs could become a way to share that wonder with others and inspire people to care about the ocean.

Greg Lecoeur

Nikon equipment is more than a collection of cameras and lenses. It is a trusted creative partner that allows me to tell emotional stories and inspire people to reconnect with the ocean.

Greg Lecoeur
Greg Lecoeur's approach to photography is rooted in a belief that images can serve as a bridge between people and living ecosystems. Growing up between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of the Mercantour National Park shaped both his sensitivity to the natural world and his long-term commitment to its protection. His Nikon journey began in the early 2000s with a Nikon Coolpix 100, a camera he picked up not as a photographer but as a diver wanting to document the marine life he encountered beneath the surface. An encounter with a pod of pilot whales in the Mediterranean changed everything, sparking a passion that gradually evolved into a career. Today, Lecoeur shoots primarily with the Nikon Z8 and Nikon Z6III, relying on the Z8's autofocus performance and speed to capture fast and unpredictable wildlife behavior in demanding conditions. Paired with the NIKKOR Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S and NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR, often extended with the NIKKOR Z TC-1.4x, he photographs seabirds and marine mammals from a respectful distance. Underwater, his preferred setup combines the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm with a wide-angle conversion system, while the NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S brings extraordinary detail to the ocean's smallest creatures.
